Diego Costa’s Chelsea future is said to be in doubt after reports of a ‘blazing row’ between the Spain international and manager Antonio Conte.
MailOnline Sport report that the 28-year-old has fallen out with Conte over disagreements with the club’s medical staff, but later reports have suggested that the forward has become distracted following a massive bid from an unnamed Chinese Super League team.
The Blues’ leading goalscorer is said to have been offered a whopping £30m per season to follow Oscar out to the cash rich league, leaving his future wide open.
Costa has not travelled with his teammates to Leicester ahead of Saturday’s game, with the Telegraph reporting that his absence is related to the argument rather than a current injury – leaving the club shorn of their leading man in a match which they hope will see them get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
Blues officials were said to be putting together a new contract to offer Costa in the coming weeks or months, but the antagonism between him and his manager – in a setup which demands togetherness from all parts – have thrown that into doubt.
With 14 goals and five assists in 19 Premier League games this season, Costa has continued to be one of Chelsea’s most valuable assets; particularly when considering the lack of faith Conte appears to have in backup option Michy Batshuayi – yet to start a league game for the club since his summer move.
